Compared to conventional polyethylene, Green-PE is not made from crude oil but from sugar canes and is largely bio-based.
By using this renewable raw material, one ton of Green PE can store up to 3.09 tons of CO2 and thus help to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
The mechanical properties correspond to those of conventional LDPE made from petrol.
Biomass-based PE is a so-called drop-in solution, as it has the same chemical structure as the crude oil-based PE.
The latter can thus be replaced one-to-one with Green PE – both in terms of use and disposal. The recyclability is comparable to that of conventional polyethylene.
